Every year during Harmony Week, my school brings together students from different year levels, grouping them into buddy pairs to explore various cultural activities and themes throughout the week. Yet, finding activities that cater to both Kindergarten through to Year 6 students at the same time has always been a challenge… until now!

Let me share with you my absolute favourite Harmony Week activity — one that the kids will love too! It’s not only a fabulous classroom display but also serves as a wonderful keepsake to take home.

Harmony Week Classroom Display

Step 1: Choose Your Circles

Let your students dive right in by selecting three circle designs from our resource. They can choose from writing circles, colouring circles and Harmony Day or Week-themed circles. This way, every student can find something that speaks to them and get creative in their own way.

Once the choices are made, it’s time to let the creativity flow! Students can write their Harmony Day message, add their favourite colours, and carefully cut out their chosen circles.

Step 2: Assemble Your Mobile

With the circles ready to go, it’s time to put together the mobile! Have students tape a piece of string along one of the folds of their first circle, ensuring it’s nice and secure. Then, using a bit of glue, they can attach half of the other two circles onto the first one. Before you know it, the mobile will start to take shape, and students will be amazed at what they’ve created together.

Step 3: Display Your Masterpiece

Now comes the best part – showing off your students’ handiwork! Hang the beautiful Harmony Day/Week mobiles around the classroom, turning it into a colourful showcase of diversity and unity. As students admire their creations and read the messages shared, they’ll gain a deeper understanding of the importance of harmony and inclusivity.

A Classroom Display for All Year Levels What’s great about this resource is that it’s perfect for students of all ages and abilities. Whether they’re writing, colouring, or assembling, every student can join in on the fun and contribute to the celebration. Plus, with different options to choose from, it’s easy to tailor the activity to suit your students’ needs.
